Debate
Discipline: THE ARENA · Trains: Speaking (+ Listening)
Pick a side and argue a live motion turn-by-turn against an AI that won't concede easily.
Debate trains the extended, developed speaking that IELTS Part 3 rewards. You take a side on a motion and argue it across several turns against an AI opponent that pushes back — so you have to listen, rebut, and keep developing your case instead of giving one-line answers.

How a session goes
- Open Debate and choose a motion.
- Pick your side — affirmative or negative. It's locked for the session; the AI takes the other side.
- Debate turn by turn: the AI makes its case (you listen), then you speak your argument or rebuttal. Repeat for several exchanges.
- Finish the debate to get your result — feedback on your argumentation and speaking, often with a verdict.
What's scored
The quality of your speaking across the exchange — fluency, range, coherence — and how well you actually engaged with the opponent's points rather than repeating yourself.
Tips
- Answer the opponent's actual point, then add yours. Engagement is the whole skill.
- Develop each turn (claim → reason → example). One-liners are exactly what this game trains you out of.
- Don't worry about "winning" — a well-argued loss teaches more than a lucky win.
