Give Directions

Discipline: FIELDWORK · Trains: Speaking (+ Listening)

Talk an AI agent to its destination on a live map using only your spoken directions.

A practical fluency drill: you guide an AI agent to a destination on a live map, using nothing but spoken directions. It builds clear, sequential, spatial language — and the ability to adjust when the listener gets confused.

A Give Directions session with a live map

How a session goes

  1. Open Give Directions and pick a scenario. You'll see a map with the agent's start and its destination.
  2. The agent asks which way to go; you speak your directions ("go straight, then turn left at the lights…").
  3. The agent moves on the map as it follows you. If it's unsure, it asks — and you clarify.
  4. The session ends when the agent arrives (or gives up). Your result rates how clear and effective your guidance was.

What's scored

The clarity and accuracy of your directions and how well you adapted when the agent was confused — practical, listener-aware speaking.

Tips

  • Sequence it: one instruction at a time, with landmarks ("past the bank", "at the second corner").
  • Watch the map — it tells you instantly whether you were understood.
  • Precise spatial vocabulary (opposite, adjacent, until you reach…) is exactly the range this rewards.
