Group Persuasion

Discipline: THE WAR ROOM · Trains: Writing

Win over a multi-party room in writing, juggling several stakeholders with competing agendas.

Group Persuasion is Negotiation turned up a level: instead of one counterpart, you're writing to a room of stakeholders who each want different things. You have to address competing agendas at once while keeping a consistent position — advanced persuasive writing.

A Group Persuasion room

How a session goes

  1. Open Group Persuasion and pick a scenario.
  2. Read the briefing — your objective and the several stakeholders in the room, each with their own stance.
  3. Make your case in writing. Stakeholders react to what you post; you respond, trying to win a majority without alienating anyone you need.
  4. See your result — who you convinced, and feedback on your multi-audience persuasion and consistency.

What's scored

Your ability to persuade multiple parties at once — addressing each one's concern, staying consistent across messages, and managing trade-offs without contradicting yourself.

Tips

  • Find the shared interest that lets you say one thing that lands with several stakeholders.
  • Don't promise opposite things to opposite people — the room notices contradictions.
  • Sometimes you concede to one to win two. That's strategy, not weakness.
